1We were founded in 2004 in response to the horrific atrocities then occurring in Darfur, a region in western Sudan. Our founder travelled to the camps of those displaced by violence, and promised to help raise their voices in the UK. Over our years of campaigning, we got to know many of the community leaders doing so much to help their people back home. Eventually, many Sudanese individuals reached the UK to try and seek sanctuary here, and we were asked to provide support to them at this crucial stage of their journey to safety and security. We have done this work ever since, performing dedicated and holistic casework for individuals who have suffered some of the worst trauma, from attacks, torture, and persecution in Sudan, to enslavement in Libya, to the horrors of the journey across the Mediterranean, and latterly the British Channel, or with threats of removal to Rwanda. We are committed to our mission of helping members of the Sudanese community build lives in which they find meaning and purpose in the UK.
