Vortex Netball is a new club establishing itself in Weston-super-Mare. Our aims are simple:
- Develop individual skills.
- Foster teamwork.
- Promote a positive, safe, and supporting environment for all players.
- Provide wonderful experiences and meaningful friendships.
To do this we need help. Help to raise funds so we can provide a training venue, officials, kit, and coaching staff. Not only is the club about supporting current and future netballers in the South West, it's also about training the officials and coaches of the future.
Females participating in sports face so many barriers; please help us remove them.
Facts about girls in sport:
- 43% of girls who considered themselves 'sporty' drop out of sport after primary school (compared to 24% of boys).
- 64% of girls will quit playing sports by the age of 16-17.
Why is the decline in participation so high amongst girls?
- 68% say they have a fear of being judged by others when playing sport.
- 61% say a lack of confidence in their body image.
Stephanie Hilborne OBE, CEO of Women in Sport, "It's an absolute travesty that teenage girls are being pushed out of sport at such a scale."
It's not just young girls that are affected either; Women in Sport also state, that women in midlife are suffering from the cumulative impact of decades of limiting gender stereotypes. A third of women aged 41-60 are not meeting the Chief Medical Officer's guidelines of 150 minutes of physical activity per week and 84% of women at this life stage want to be more active.
Vortex Netball Club is brand sparkling new, and we need help funding the establishment of 2 senior teams and our Youth Academy before we begin our Back to Netball section. Please help us on our journey by donating today.
