About me
I'm Callum - I'm a second year adult nursing student. I have been fortunate to secure a part funded place on a Nepal trip. As part of the trip, I will be going with a small group of students and staff to deliver a range of healthcare outreach activities in Kathmandu Nepal.
I started my nurse training in 2023 after leaving my corporate job to retrain and make a difference. For those who don't know, nursing is a full on course and career. As part of my studies, we are expected to complete a range of modules, assignments and examinations. This is alongside achieving 2300 hours in clinical practice in the UK. So far, I have had placement experiences in the following settings:
- Theatres
- A Cardiology Ward
- A Female Surgical Ward
My next placement commences in April, and I will be heading out to a busy A&E department and major trauma center to experience the fast paced world of emergency healthcare ⚕️
With a full timetable and schedule coming up I am seeking to fundraise to get me to Nepal.
About the Project
📌 - Kathmandu, Nepal
🗓️ - 31st May 2025 to 30th June 2025
This trip involves various activities working closely with local experts. Volunteers will be tasked with raising awareness of health and hygiene, completing basic medical checks, providing special support for people with disabilities, and involved with public health improvements in collaboration with the community.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated. Should I be successful in achieving more donations than I require to go to Nepal, I will be using any additional funds to donate to a nutritional rehabilitation centre that treats severely malnourished children and mothers in the city. The nutritional rehabilitation centre is one of the locations that we will be delivering community outreach too during the visit to Nepal.
