We are 3 ladies who have come together, with no prior rowing experience to take on the Worlds Toughest Row.
We will be rowing, 3,000 nm from La Gomera to Antigua.
During our crossing we will row in excess of 1.5 million oar strokes, we will face up to 30ft high waves, extreme winds and likely storms, not to mention hand blisters and bum sores. Our boat will be carrying all our essentials which include freeze dried food, a water maker (to desalinate sea water for drinking water), 2 sets of clothes each (no room for fashion), emergency kit and survival equipment.
It is estimated that each crew member will use 800 sheets of toilet paper, we will burn in excess of 5,000 calories per day with the average rower losing around 8kg during the crossing and will require 5l of drinking water a day minimum.
Oh and did we mention there is no toilet on board!
It is a true test of physical and mental strength, determination and resilience.
We will be fundraising for each of our chosen charities; Kidney Wales (G Pybus), The John Radcliffe Hospital Neuro ICU (Grace Gilbert) and Empire Fighting Chance (Maddie Difazio-Wright).
However, like with many adventure endeavours we also need funding for critical equipment and shipping the boat, so again, like many charities, a small percentage (20%) of total funds raised will go towards our campaign. The 80% majority, will be split equally 3 ways unless you specify which charity you want it to go to.
