Aim: The aim of the vert ramp funding project is generally to support the growing local skateboarding scene and offer a vert ramp more locally

My name is Steve Dempsey and I grew up in California where there are endless skateparks and ramps, which in turn has produced some of the best skateboarders in the world. This is because they have the weather and the facilities that support the skateboarding community. Indoors, outdoors, vert ramps, mega ramps topped with the Californian sunshine. Well the weather is not as kind here in Cornwall, but wow we have produced some amazing skateboarders and have a close skateboarding community who support eachother.
Skateboarding is for everyone, our community funding project is generally to support and grow local skateboarding scenes by providing a facility that supports our already amazing skateparks from Mounthawke, TR7, Lovepark and of course Concrete waves. By having an indoor Vert Ramp in Cornwall will help support the upcoming skateboarding athletes further, and give opportunities for skaters to connect, learn, and progress. This can involve creating safe and an inclusive Vert Ramp environment that offers coaching and mentorship, and fostering a sense of community among skateboarders.
Mental health has played a huge role in our lives and supporting children that have dealt with bullying and isolation is top on our agenda! we want to create a space where they can feel safe and be free.

What will the money be used for? I’ve built skate ramps in California and of course I will need some help, we will also need materials and a community space to escape the weather.

We have been looking at abandoned and derelict churches due to the high ceilings that can cope with a vert ramp which has been done in the UK.

Finally, let’s look at the benefits….
In both children and adults, skating and falling repeatedly, getting back up to try again, it's a powerful demonstration of resilience and perseverance. This repeated cycle of falling and getting back up teaches them valuable life lessons about not giving up in the face of setbacks, which can be beneficial in many areas of their lives.
