UTTLESFORD SHARE THE WARMTH 2024

RCN 1078222, Saffron Walden

More than 4,000 households in Uttlesford are estimated to be in fuel poverty - choosing between food and fuel. Can you share the warmth?

UTTLESFORD SHARE THE WARMTH 2024

Although Uttlesford is considered to be an affluent area, 11.8% of households across the district are in fuel poverty.  This equates to 4,395 households struggling to afford housing, fuel and food.

We have seen a rapid rise in the number of people coming to us for help and advice relating to utility bills over the last few years - dealing with more issues in the first 6 months of this financial year compared to the whole of 2023-4.

Changes to eligibility for the Winter Fuel payment this year together with a 10% rise in gas and electricity prices coming into force on 1 October will mean even more people worrying whether they can afford the basics they need to live their lives and raise their children this winter.

If you would like to help another local person who can’t afford to heat their home this winter, please consider making a donation to the Uttlesford Share the Warmth Fund.

This fund provides emergency support for people who cannot afford to top up their meters, pay their utility bills or fill their oil tank, so they aren't forced to make the impossible choice between heating and eating.

Money donated to this fund will be ring-fenced for distribution to local people.  Our previous campaign raised over £5,200 and supported 109 people over 10 months. With an even more challenging situation this year we would love to to smash our previous total!

Thank you for helping to make sure we can all can stay warm and well this winter.
