Inflation is skyrocketing in Darfur. Families cannot afford even the most basic essentials. They are trying to survive on one scant meal a day. Covid-19 is a massive threat but no one can afford a bar of soap. Food is desperately needed, but so is soap. Children’s immune systems are being depleted. The spread of Covid-19 in rural villages in Darfur is becoming increasingly life-threatening and starvation is a very real threat.

Our Goat loans, described as being 'the best microfinance scheme in the world', provide the poorest families in our villages in Darfur with 5 nanny goats. These goats allow mothers to feed their children nutritious goat’s milk and stave off malnutrition, as well as create an income through the sale of excess milk and yoghurt. For the first time, mothers can make decisions and influence their family’s future.
After two years, once the little flock has grown, five nanny goats are then passed on to another family to benefit. Our sustainable goat loans really do save lives.
This year we are celebrating our 20th Birthday – two decades of changing children’s lives in Darfur, starting with goats. Our birthday falls on 8th March, International Women’s Day. Please will you spare a thought for these international women? They are just like us, sisters, daughters, mothers, who happen to have been born in one of the harshest areas of the world and are doing their best to fend for their families and protect their children.
