History
I live in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Whilst there are affable areas. Many are not. The buildings are in decay and housing low income workers or those of benefits.
When I separated from my husband, I had no job, my skill set wasn't needed in the area. So, I cashed in my savings, put my money where my mouth is and started buying properties that where decaying. With my steel toes capped boots and my trustee Ukrainian worker, Inna. We have rived out walls, dealt with rising damp and painted what feels like the Sistine chapel in order to create lovely homes for the lovely people of Scarborough.
The People I want to help
We spend a lot of time focusing on young people and young families. But what about the elderly with needs? Especially men.
I bought a whole building with several apartments in it. All occupied by elderly single gentlemen. All on benefits and living in appalling conditions. They have no families. However, they do have me, my daughter, and Inna.
They spent the winter afraid to open their door, and dressed up like walking sleeping bags. They put their heating rarely and when they did it had little or no effect other than the hole in their pockets.
I have spent money on uPVC windows, upgrades to the roof, insulation in the apartments, and solar panelling. New bathrooms, new furniture and bedding.
The objective for me now is the get the electric costs as low as I can for these gentlemen, so they can afford to put their heating on. The solar panelling will help, but it wont cover the whole building. My pockets are deep, but are now empty.
The Crowd Fund Request - £6000 total
The Government energy grants are declined because I am a Limited business, I cannot apply on behalf of the gentlemen AND the heating products provided are simply not as efficient as I would like them be. The radiators I want to buy are from another Yorkshire Based, Carbon Neutral Business called TRUST. Their radiators are the most energy efficient on the European market. The currently hold the UK Most Efficient Heater award.
Each apartment will cost £1300 to fit out with the Neo Radiators.

My funding will stetch to one apartment and the fitting and installation costs of the other. But not the purchase on the units themselves.
By next winter I would like have all my gentlemen to have a comfortable, warm home in their fading years.
