We are delighted to be able to host Uley Lantern Festival for a third year running, after which it will become a bi-annual event. Let's make this years festival really special until the next one in 2026. We need your help to make it happen.
After two hugely successful Lantern Festivals, Uley Events Group have been working really hard over the last 10 months to raise funds to make this year's event extra special. It costs in excess of £12,000 to run this event safely, with the right mix of entertainment for all to enjoy.
We are so pleased to be on our way to reaching our target, having successfully fundraised and received grants and funding from a number of local benefactors. However, there is still a way to go yet. As we are not able to charge entry to the event (YES, IT'S FREE!) we rely on the generosity of the local community to enable the festival to continue.
What we provide for you …
- Lantern making workshops run by professionals for both children and adults, the weekend before and during half term week. The lanterns may be hand-held or worn and will be lit with LED’s - not to be confused with sky-lanterns. All tuition, recyclable materials and an LED will be provided for a small charge. You can keep your lantern but it would be helpful to return/recycle your LED's if you don't want them as we can reuse them.
- The chance to join the procession, ‘a magical river of light’ early evening on Saturday 2nd November. The lanterns will process down The Street as night falls led by lively carnival musicians.
- A festival gathering on the Millennium Green following the procession with a range of food and drink, a bonfire, live musicians and entertainment for all the family.
Any donation, big or small, will be gratefully received.
Uley Events Group are committed to steering this spectacular 'not for profit' magical festival of light for you and your families to enjoy, bringing the whole community together. We believe that it provides the opportunity to showcase and celebrate Uley's fantastic creativity and collective spirit!
ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS YEAR'S EVENT WILL BE USED TO SECURE ULEY’S FUTURE LANTERN FESTIVALS
