We would like to teach free school meals children the ukulele within a group at school. This can boost mental health and academic ability.

We would teach free school meals children to play cool pop songs they love on the ukulele. We would help them form a band and name their band giving them a sense of group identity. We would give them the chance to perform at events and festivals in their community.

Learning an instument has been proven to boost mood, improve overall academic achievement and even boost immunity. Children can make friends with their ukulele 'band', learn to play the songs they love and perform at real gigs in our community. This can give an enormous sense of achievement.

Learning an instrument in a group of piers can really make a difference to a child's life.

We currently teach the ukulele in three local schools from Reception up to Year 6, and also teach parent and pre schooler classes. We perform at festivals, and put on events. For instance, we performed on one of the main stages at Camp Bestival a leading family festival in the UK last summer.
