Having gone to Uganda for what was expected to be a 5 day trip my life was transformed and I ended up staying for 22 years to be the voice and action of the poorest and most vulnerable children living in extreme poverty in the slums.
Uganda hands for Hope was formed to be the voice and action of children that need us the most to transform their 'world's', intially by providing safety and protection away from the dangers of roaming the slums and then with the support of 2 meals a day, access to essential medical care and a quality education and opportunities to excell and achieve their dreams.
From intially supporting just 8 children at a daycare protection centre we have since grown, thanks to many friends, now having a nursery, primary and secondary school, as well as a special facility for children with different forms of special needs. We also support a number of children from higher risk families to attend various boarding schools, provide small business loans for parents/ guardians (as little at £10), and run holiday programmes to keep children safe during school holidays etc.
Everytime we received confirmation of another sponsor, who pay £25 per month, then another child from our waiting list gets the protection and support so desperately needed.
We welcome volunteers/ interns to come and get involved, see what we do, as well as help us fundraise in different ways to improve our facilities.
Together we are making huge differences to transforming the lives of very vulnerable children and welcome anyone who is willing to get involved so we can continue transforming more children's world's, one child at a time.
