Our organisation was formed back in 1827 and every year since (excepting during war years) annual parades have taken place. They started as thank you‘s from the local shop keepers to the gentry for their support and now the parades are used to put on a show for the whole town and collect money which is then donated to various local groups and good causes throughout the Uckfield area.
Last year we had to run a virtual Carnival due to COVID19 but we still managed to raise £2500 which was shared between local organisations who provide a variety of services to the community, including youth projects, animals, education and the more senior members of our community.
Sadly due to the on-going impact of the Covid19 situation our 2021 annual celebration and collection won’t be taking place in its normal form this September. This is due to the on-going impact on the various road closure applications and insurance situation which meant we could not get everything in place in time to make the carnival happen.
So we are having a virtual event via social media and this CrowdFunder page to keep our 194 year old tradition alive and hopefully still raising some money to support the Uckfield community.
Please give generously and watch our Facebook page for how you can get involved, maybe dress up or decorate your house to celebrate the day, and look out for a decorated vehicle and collectors who will be visiting some areas around town on the day.
Please help us keep Uckfield oldest tradition alive.
