To raise enough funds to prevent the closure of a valuable out of hours Twilight Sanctuary Crisis Prevention service.

We're still collecting donations

On the 5th November 2021 we'd raised £60 with 2 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

The Twilight service, run by Mind Brecon, was set up in memory of a local young man, as a way of trying to prevent others from suicide or self-harm by providing support to people outside normal working hours. The pilot began in February 2021 and over the last 7 months the service has helped many people struggling to cope with life. But now the Twilight Sanctuary service is struggling itself as funding is running out.

For those that have accessed the service it has been beneficial in reducing the risk for both suicide and self-harm. Many people having reported that they feel reassured knowing the service is there should they need someone to talk to someone in the evenings.

We have an experienced and dedicated team and are open 5 nights a week from 7pm to 11pm. There are numerous ways to access the service: a dedicated phone line, mobile number for those who prefer to text, or email. Support can be provided via these means or face to face in the charity’s Wellbeing Centre in Brecon. The Twilight Sanctuary practitioners can also link people to other Mind Brecon services, such as wellbeing support or counselling for ongoing help beyond moments of crisis.

Val Walker, CEO, at Mind Brecon said “I would like to make a plea to people to help us by raising funds to keep this very valuable service open and help to save lives. We need to raise a target of £30,000 to keep the service open for a further 6 months. Every little bit helps.”
