Hi,
I'm Josh. An average runner with pretty okay marathon times. I often use running as an outlet to channel my feelings, rid myself of frustration and manage my stress. Just like most blokes my age, I have often found it really hard to talk about difficult issues, like the death of my dad, the worries financial difficulty brings when renting and paying a mortgage; or just the general feelings of wanting to be enough for my friends and family.
This is where Two Pints Deep comes in.
I met Luke in 2019 when we played football together in Manchester; I didn't know then that he would go on to be the founder of one of the most progressive men's mental health charities in the UK. The work being conducted by Luke and his team has been vitally important in creating safer spaces for men to talk openly about their feelings and create that relaxed feeling of being "two pints deep" without any need for alcohol; thus reducing the prominent disconnect between the increasing rates of male suicide and the charities supporting them. An honourable, and exceedingly more important cause.
From June 1st I will be beginning to train for the MBNA Chester marathon (5th October) where I will be raising money, and awareness for Luke and his Team in their important mission.
Aims:
1) Create a mindset of being able to be comfortable in uncomfortable environments
2) Talk to my mates, my wife and to the Team about the training, the mental challenges marathon training brings
3) Raise important funds for this incredible charity, living and breathing their ethos into the way I conduct my training.
4) Become less average at running and achieve that 03:10:00.
