Recruiting volunteers to deploy the eggs!
I hope you are well. I just wanted to give you guys an update on Turtle Tracks.
I am currently at our first secret location in a remote tropical paradise. The eggs are here and the initial testing has gone very well. They transmit both on GPS and SMS signals and are merrily emitting a signal once an hour as programmed!
That’s the good news.
The bad news is we are desperately in need of volunteer support. We believe the current political climate is deterring people from travelling and its having an impact on our numbers. We have one or two teams out on the beach each night and this simply isn’t enough. While we never encounter the poachers, they are killing turtles and leaving their carcasses on the path for all to see. If anyone is able to come out and help us deploy the eggs we are recruiting volunteers now.
The project is based in Central America and we need people willing and able to walk long hours on a beach at night in all weathers. We have negotiated a reduced fee for Turtle Tracks supporters of $225/week. This covers food, board, training and the opportunity of a life time helping to conserve these amazing marine reptiles. We hope to deploy the first 50 eggs as soon as possible and will be patrolling the beach until the end of October.
Please let me know if you are interested and I will happily send you more info or chat via skype or whatsapp.
Tell your friends – the turtles need you!!
I look forward to hearing from you
All the best
