We're still collecting donations
On the 11th December 2018 we'd raised £295 with 6 supporters in 49 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

On the 11th December 2018 we'd raised £295 with 6 supporters in 49 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Getting moving in your 20s and 30s is tough enough, let alone with cancer.
"I couldn't even run for the bus, the programme has changed my life.” RENEW participant, 22
What is RENEW?
Trekstock's programme gives young adults with cancer the opportunity to work with qualified Cancer Rehabilitation Level 4 instructors, who have the knowledge, understanding, and experience of the specific side effects and the limitations of cancer patients. Each instructor creates a tailored plan to safely meet the specific needs of each participant, taking them through 1:2:1 sessions in the gym, check-ins, and coaching to help set and meet individualised goals.
Why RENEW?
Increasingly, more young adults are surviving cancer but at what cost to their ongoing health and wellbeing?
Many living with the disease and its effects, face numerous challenges including; reduced muscle strength, severe fatigue and depression, lack of confidence, poor body image and emotional scars of isolation. We know that exercise not only has an impact on the body, but also has huge benefits to improving psychological well-being. Therefore RENEW has been developed by Trekstock to empower young adults to get moving, regain their strength and improve their quality of life.
“My health is improving, through exercise and weight loss I've found that my chronic pain is easier to manage and my fatigue has improved. I'm doing things that I wouldn’t have dreamed of doing a year ago because my confidence has improved massively. I couldn’t have done any of this without the support of RENEW, Trekstock got me back into exercise and have supported me the whole way through my journey." Ellen, 23, Leukaemia
The difference RENEW makes
The NHS England Five Year Forward View and Cancer Taskforce Strategy state that all cancer patients should have access to lifestyle and behaviour change support after cancer. However, very few young adults report receiving any support. Ongoing monitoring by Trekstock currently shows that 72% of its beneficiaries are requesting physical activity support from the charity, highlighting the fact that it remains an unmet need.
"It’s known that physical activity can help young adults who’ve had cancer reduce the consequences of cancer and improve their overall quality of life. Many are motivated to make lifestyle changes, the challenge for some is finding a place and activity that suits their individual needs. This is where Trekstock is able to meet those needs.” Dr Louise Soanes - TYA Nurse Consultant at UCLH, London
Like Tom in our video, many young adults struggle with the visible and invisible effects that a diagnosis brings, stopping life in its tracks. Trekstock's physical activity programme aims to get them moving again during and after treatment, reaping the benefits of being active, regaining their strength and making positive lasting changes. Our programme is open to people of all abilities and with any cancer type. With your help, Trekstock can change the lives of 60 young adults in London through its RENEW programme, giving them the strength and confidence to take back control over their lives.
“The work Trekstock is doing to promote physical activity in young adults with cancer is so vital - I'm really excited to see the charity grow and reach more people needing this support.” Dr Gemma Pugh, Lecturer Exercise Medicine, Queen Mary University of London
