'Treacle' is a bold and captivating short film that re-imagines the gangster genre through a feminist lens. Have you ever wondered what happened to the wives? Evelyn, a fearless woman navigating a violent world, defies traditional stereotypes. The film is set in the 1960s and follows Eve as she pursues her passion of dancing- despite the violent challenges that threaten to derail her dreams. Later in life, having escaped her husband, Eve is a dance teacher reflecting on the choices that led her there. She sees her protégée (Mia) making similar mistakes, and must confront her own past, in order to prevent Mia from going down the same path. Ultimately Eve relives her dreams through her young student and makes peace with her past.

At its core, 'Treacle' also seeks to raise awareness about domestic violence, focusing on the often-overlooked warning signs that can emerge in the early stages of a relationship.
