Transition Stirling

Our charity focusses on helping the people of Stirlingshire transition to a more resilient, sustainable way of living, and provides a positive, local response to climate change.

The range and extent of our impact can only be possible through the generosity of our donors and wonderful team who keep things running, allowing us to tackle the twin issues of the climate crisis and cost of living crisis in tandem. We do this through a wide range of projects and partnerships, across multiple locations. Some of our key projects include:

  • Stirling Community Food
  • Stirling Reuse Hub
  • Share & Repair Project

Stirling Community Food

Based at 5 Wellgreen Lane in Stirling city centre, our food hub helps reduce food waste and provides free, healthy food to locals, referral-free. Instead of supermarkets putting large volumes of excess and near-sell-by-date food in the bin, Stirling Community Food collects this excess and distributes it to the community for free. The offering often includes fresh bakery goods, frozen foods and flowers, as well as a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Since its launch at the beginning of lockdown in March 2020, Stirling Community Food has provided over 95,700 meals to the community (many of whom are feeling the cost of living crisis most acutely) and prevented over forty-three tonnes of food from going to landfill - a weight equivalent to at least nine fully grown elephants!

Stirling Reuse Hub

Opened in October 2021, this exciting space in Springkerse is dedicated to selling high quality pre-owned furniture, household goods and so much more! Supported by our workshops, tools from the library and workspace, the hub provides a retail space for upcyclers to sell their creations. It is a space to foster and encourage innovation, to collaborate and develop solutions, as well as deliver repurposing projects. Many of those upcyclers now have retail space in our recently opened Remakers store, in Stirling Thistle Shopping Centre, providing unique, beautiful alternatives to new goods.

Share & Repair Project

This project helps our community reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill through initiatives like our extensive tool library, repair café events, wood reuse scheme and a variety of educational workshops (including upcycling, repairing of furniture and textiles, plus sessions on sustainable food).
