We are Birds With Words an international arts collective who put on open mics, run workshops, host festivals and generally aim to foster community through creative arts.
We are fundraising this festive season for Trans Santa, a gift service that fulfils the wishes of trans kids in need. You can read their wishes and requests here: https://www.instagram.com/transanta/?hl=en. We will use 50% of the profits raised tonight to go through and spread some Christmas cheer!
We are also planning a workshop series that would be free and available to all online which would encourage creativity and provide a space for creative people to try out new ideas. In order to cover the costs of our open mic events and allow us to pay workshop facilitators a fair rate, we are asking for any donations to make this happen.
Our events highlight the voices of people of marginalised genders who feel comfortable performing in our space and amongst this company. (This is including but not limited to non-binary people, women, and trans men.) We are very open to feedback on how to adapt our events to make them as accessible as possible.
