The idea of Touch My World productions was dreamt up in 2015 and created from the love of producing full scale productions, writing and adapting scripts, providing a platform for individuals with learning and physical disabilities to perform, create and design set and costumes and gain skills within the technical element of stage productions as well as providing a social hub.
The TMW team are passionate about making theatre accessible to all. Providing a sensory theatre experience and a safe place for individuals of all ages to socialise, gain new friends and grow in confidence and self-esteem. It also provides a place for parents and carers the chance to meet and socialise whilst the sessions are taking place.
It provides a platform for individuals encouraging positive relationships through musical theatre, singing, dancing and acting. The dream was thought up to give people with disabilities the opportunity to be able to access the same facilities and opportunities in performing arts as those without.
Growing up with a sister with physical disabilities it was apparent that there was limited opportunities and experiences however now thankfully the social stigma is changing.
TMW is launching a weekly 'nightclub' for individuals with disabilities and is looking for support to help this get off the ground post covid and help bring the community back together. It needs funding to help cover set up costs and initial opening costs.
