We're still collecting donations

With the extra £1000 we could involve other creatives to work on the project and extend it to other medium in the future. For example, transforming it into a short film or mini series.
Hi! I am Eva and together with Katie and Alice we are Knockout Productions, a company that aims to make comedic theatre by and for women.
Katie, Alice, and I (the company directors), all met whilst studying at Drama Studio London on the MFA Acting course. During the second year of our degree, we created our first project together 'Knockouts' (hence the company name!!), which ran at the Grange Court Theatre and the Playground Theatre in London. After a few months of research and development, we are proud to present our second project as a company 'Tit(s) for Tat', which is going to debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2024 at theSpace on the mile from the 19th - 24th August.
5 girls, one night and a friendship that’s reached boiling point. They made a pact thirteen years ago to stay ‘best friends forever’, but as the years have past and life has taken them in different directions, the end of ‘forever’ may be closer than they think.
It’s the night of Emily’s housewarming party, and the whole gang have gathered together for a night full of celebrations, catch-ups and casual bitching. On the surface, everything seems…fine. Yet underneath this friendly facade, a deep rooted tension is bubbling away; initially only making the occasional appearance through a well-aimed catty remark or an ever-so-discreet side-eye glance. But as the night progresses (and the homemade cocktails make their appearance!), the tension can no longer be contained, and at last, the underbelly of this friendship bursts wide open, sending 13 years of unspoken words, well established grudges and devastating secrets, firing across the room - all leaving a trail of destruction in their paths. The girls are left to face the reality of what this friendship has become, and must now decide if they really want to fix what was broken long ago.
Through this 50-minute piece of comedic new-writing, we want to explore what friendship means as we grow older and what it feels like to ‘outgrow’ our childhood friends and we move into adulthood. We are also aiming to challenge the idea of what it means to be a woman in her 20’s in 2024. Is there a pressure to settle down? To find yourself? To be strong and independent? How do these opposing views change the friendships with the people you knew before you even became a woman? If you move away from home, do you have the same mindset and understanding of the world as your friends who haven’t? And is there really a ‘right way’ to live your life?
The £2000 will cover our hire rates (including actual fringe hire as well as rehearsal room hire in London), as well as props, costumes, poster design, poster print and flyer print.
