Who are we?
Three Acre is a craft brewery based in Blackboys, in the East Sussex countryside. We opened our doors for trading in late 2019, and one pandemic later, we're still growing, brewing beers which combine the very best of old and new.
I'm Chester, one of three co-founders at Three Acre. The other two are my best mates: Jamie (now an award-winning Head Brewer) and Peter (number-crunching extraordinaire). We grew up together in the local area, where we spent our early days building treehouses and riding bikes.
How did we get started?
Three Acre Brewery was born from a home-brewing hobby in Peter's garden shed. A few months in, we brewed our no.8 IPA - with its smooth, tropical flavours, and glowing amber colour - which is when we knew we were onto something special.
Following a number of long conversations (over a good few beers), we agreed that there was a gap in the market to take a modern spin on traditional ales – taking inspiration from heritage, whilst offering something refreshing and unique.
During the summer of 2019, we set up the Three Acre Brewery in Blackboys, hiring a converted farm building, and buying a second-hand commercial brew-kit. Since then, our production capacity has increased by 1400%, and we've released a total of 23 beers, starting with our classic Best Bitter, all the way to our juicy Blood Orange Pale, our Chocolate Oat Stout, and much more.
Over the last four years, hundreds of thousands of pints of Three Acre have been served, and we're only just getting started.
The Brew Cafe:
Since we started the brewery, the question we've been asked the most is: "have you got a taproom?" Countless times, we've responded with: "Unfortunately not yet, but it's coming soon..."
Well, it’s finally time to make it a reality. In 2024, we will be opening our very first venue, on Uckfield High Street.
Our new venue will be a warm, welcoming space for all, with great people, a great atmosphere, and even better beer.
We'll serve pints of our delicious, award-winning cask and keg beers (and featured guests), support local producers by stocking a range of their quality produce, host live music events, run meet-the-brewer evenings, and much more.
But it's not just about beer - during the day, we'll be serving the finest coffee blends, proper cups of tea, and local produce. A multi-purpose space for the community to enjoy.
How will we use the funding?
