I've been thinking about how I can support the crisis going on in Ukraine through some fundraising.
My work takes part in a corporate 5k running challenge in London on July 7th and will match fund any donations. This seemed like the ideal chance to raise some funds for the "Choose Love" Ukraine crisis fundraiser. Any donations welcome, no matter how small <3
Where your donation will go
Russian troops invaded Ukraine on the night of 23 February 2022. The subsequent mass displacement of civilians from Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis inside has devastated the world. As it stands, more than 14 million people are estimated to have been displaced from their homes - including more than 4.8 million children. So far, more than 6.1 million individuals have reportedly left the country, and an estimated of 8 million people internally displaced inside Ukraine where there is now active conflict and a humanitarian catastrophe unfolding.
Thanks to donations to Choose Love, they are now supporting over 46 projects providing vital aid and services to those still in and fleeing the country, including: emergency medical care, food, shelter, clothes, legal support, mental health support, support for LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and marginalised communities.
Final thoughts
It’s easy to feel helpless in moments like this, but we can respond with love in the face of such calculated and cruel aggression. Please give what you can to this urgent appeal, and please also share this fundraiser as widely as you can.
