Thirst Trap touches upon multiple genres, such as, fantasy, romance, horror and comedy. Its a high-concept, ambiguous story following two female protagonists. Ada, a vampire, owns a successful lesbian bar in London; however, the bar is a cover for a secret vampire hangout. This haven for the undead is disturbed one night when Ada’s new girlfriend wanders in. Rua is a human and a force of nature. Mesmerised by Ada’s life, curiosity gets the better of her, and she must discover Ada’s dark secret. In a morbid turn of events, the girls must navigate their relationship through the darkness. While maintaining Rua’s freedom and the secrecy of Ada’s bar, the girls must find a way to make it work.
Thirst Trap looks at themes of, desire, liberation, identity, guilt, morals, and more. The purpose of the film is to create an on-screen safe space for the lesbian community. By using a ridiculously over-the-top, unrealistic narrative, juxtaposed with themes of relevant issues amongst our generation. It’s a fun story; you can easily get lost in it while offering representation to the lesbian community, as any other comedy horror would. The feminist film isolates an underlying theme of feeling trapped in our own lives and the world around us as queer women.
The writing process began in June, 7 months into the project, we have now created two concept reels you can find on instagram @THIRSTTRAPFILM. The one attached we shot on the Arri Alexa mini.
