Help us bring our show 'The Sound of the Space Between' to the Edinburgh Fringe this year.

by Harri Pitches in Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom

Hello there! We are so excited to be bringing our show 'The Sound of the Space Between' to the Edinburgh Fringe this year, with ZOO venues where it will be playing in their Playground 2 theatre space from the 2nd-25th August.

The show is devised and performed by Harri Pitches and after five years in the theatre industry as a professional actor, 'The Sound of the Space Between' is his debut as a professional theatre-maker. Putting on a show at the Fringe is an expensive business and we need your help to make it the best it can be!

What is The Sound of the Space Between all about?

In the darkness of grief, a man hears something calling. Something – or someone – is reaching out. But why now? And from where? Desperate for answers, he follows the sound beyond the edges of the world he knows, and deep into the Space Between. But the rules are different here, and time is running out. Able to manipulate the sea of sounds around him, can he piece together the truth before it’s too late?

What would we say to the people we’ve lost if we could? ‘The Sound of the Space Between’ is a sonic adventure into the unknown told using live sound manipulation technology as a gateway to a world beyond.

Our story is told with sound and music, and all of the sound in the show is created and controlled live on-stage by Harri using a series of microphones, pedals, cables, and an electric guitar to build a world out of sound and explore what happens inside it.

Who is Harri?

Harri Pitches is an artist, musician and theatre-maker who uses sound to create new worlds and tell exciting new stories. His solo work is atmospheric, experimental, and shapes an epic experience in the smallest of spaces.

Harri trained as an actor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, developing his practice in contemporary devised performance, and staging his play When the Dust Settles at the ‘On the Verge’ Festival at the Citizens Theatre in 2018. Since graduating, he has worked extensively in devised productions, often collaborating with Leeds-based theatre company Wrongsemble. He also works as a composer and musical director, most recently scoring Wrongsemble’s 2023 production of Tinsel, which played at the Gala Theatre in Durham over Christmas.

Where is my money going?

Bringing a show to the Edinburgh Fringe is an expensive business, and to make the show the best it can be, every bit that we can fundraise will make a massive difference. Your donations will go towards…

Venue Costs: Your money will help us cover the costs of bringing our show to our fantastic space with ZOO Venues.

Paying our Crew: We believe in making theatre as equitably as possible, and your donations will go towards ensuring we can properly compensate the hard work of our brilliant team.

Marketing Materials: This will include posters, flyers, advertisements – all of which will help us share the show and our team’s hard work with as wide an audience as possible in the run up to and during the Fringe.

Technical Equipment: ‘TSOTSB’ is a sound-led production, and we would love to be able to hire additional speakers for our venue in order to elevate the sound quality in the show and deliver the best version of it that we can.
