1603203905_dsc_9707_crop.jpgThe Muni Theatre is part of a national initiative launched by Theatres Trust to prevent the permanent closure of hundreds of UK theatres.

The Muni Theatre is part of Pendle's cultural heritage and we want to make sure it remains a prominent and important part of the borough for years to come.

Situated in the heart of Colne town centre, this Edwardian theatre is the hub of entertainment for Pendle residents and visitors from further afield, providing year-round entertainment for all the family.

From big name comedians, live music and children's shows, to local and national theatre, the venue is also available for private hire for parties, weddings and events.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Our theatre risks permanent closure because, due to Covid-19, it has been closed since the end of March 2020, meaning we have had no income at all during this time.

Your donations will be used to ensure this much-needed and loved venue can survive the pandemic and continue to provide year-round entertainment for the people of Pendle and beyond.

About The Muni Theatre

Over the years, this iconic landmark has played host to some well-known sporting stars, top class comedians, music legends and stars of stage and screen -  providing audiences with the very best in live entertainment.

The theatre can be transformed to provide standing room for crowds at live music events or seating for theatre shows, both of which include seating for 200 people in the comfortable, spacious balcony.

Every January, the theatre hosts an annual pantomime providing laugh-out-loud fun for all the family. Featuring well-known stars from the world of film, television and the West End, stunning scenery and lots of special effects, amazing costumes, fantastic music, hilarious jokes and audience participation, this is a favourite crowd-pleaser in the Muni’s calendar.

The venue has a fully-stocked, licensed bar and a large, sprung dance floor and can be hired for any occasion or event, from wedding receptions and birthday parties, to awards evenings and charity fundraisers.

About Save Our Theatres

In villages, towns and cities across the country, theatres are at the heart of their community. Places to come together, to be inspired and be entertained. Theatres are where our best-loved actors learn their craft and thousands of others learn valuable skills.

But we risk losing this forever

Theatres saw their main source of income disappear in an instant when they closed in March in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We still don’t know when they will be able to reopen fully and this ongoing uncertainty puts theatres in a perilous situation. The Government’s bailout is spread across all cultural organisations and certainly won’t be enough to save all of the UK’s theatres.

Every day theatres are facing the tough decision to make staff redundant and to close their doors until next year. And there is a real risk that those closures could be permanent.

Without urgent support, we could lose our nation’s amazing theatres. Please help us to make sure our theatres survive this crisis and will be there to be enjoyed by future generations.

Please donate, share this page widely and do what you can to help us to make sure our theatre survives this crisis.
