 We will be able to pay for the best location and props as well as contribution to specialist equipment such as steadycam and anamorphic lenses that will make the film look even more cinematic.

And we would be able to pay for the best post production processing - audio/edit/grade, to raise the films quality even more.

1986. Eight-year-old Eddie's life is changed when a stranger from his mother’s past arrives at the door and invites himself in.


 Set in a council house in the East Midlands in the 80's, 'The Knock' is a 'coming of age/loss of innocence' film about the transition from childhood to adulthood and the impact a single moment can have on our lives.

Eddie's dad is working nights. In the living room, Eddie is killing imaginary foes with his sword, whilst his mum Carol makes his packed lunch in the kitchen. There is a knock at the door and Roger, a charming but unsettling stranger from Carol's past invites himself in.

This will be a cinematic look at the world from a 8 year olds perspective, and the way the adult world can effect the life of a child.


We are honoured to be part of the Creative England and BFI NET.WORK's 2016 iShorts scheme, and we have been awarded £5000 by them towards the production of our short film, but filmmaking is an expensive process - and to make the most of this incredible opportunity we NEED your suppport.

We need to create a believable 1980's home for the action to take place in, period films art budgets are 15% more expensive than modern set productions, and is essential that this world is as 'real' as possible.

We want to work with the best cast and crew possible. We have already assembled some incredible crew members, but there are still many key members that we need, costume, make up, camera teams, post production etc.

But all this costs money!

 The Team:

Philip Stevens


Philip Stevens is an award-winning film and theatre director.  His short film 'Northmen' was nominated for the Polar Film Festival in Finland, The British Society of Cinematographers’ New Cinematography Night, Key Shorts Film Festival and a Royal Television Society award for best short drama.

His short film 'Greasepaint' won the 2011 Royal Television Society award for best short drama. More recently, his teaser trailer 'Humans' won the Celtx Seeds film award, has been nominated for the Northern Nights Film Festival.

Philip has written and directed two WWII short dramas 'By The Winter Sea', and 'Lancaster', whichwas selected for the best short film category at the 2014 BAFTA Accredited Aesthetica Film Festival.

In 2015 he completed 'The Road to Rome', a television documentary narrated by Sir Ian Mckellen in which he filmed a group of best selling ancient Roman fiction authors walking across Italy, and the short documentary ‘The Bank’s Endeavour’ featuring Sir David Attenborough.

He has just directed critically acclaimed UK and Ireland theatre tours of ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’, ‘The Secret Garden’ and ‘The Jungle Book’.

His most recent short film ‘The Forecast’ has been selected by the London Short Film Festival,  Kinofilm Festival Manchester, IndieLincs The Cannes film festival Short Film corner. He has also just won a 2016 BUFTVC Learning on Screen award at the BFI Southbank for his Magna Carta film 'The Empty Throne'.

Dominique Webb


Dominique has worked in the commercial film industry as well as the independent sector and has produced a wide range of genres including commercials, documentary, pop promos and fiction.  She recently worked with Philip Stevens as producer on 'The Forecast' (mentioned aboveand combines her production work with her role as senior lecturer at the University of Lincoln, teaching and researching in film production.

Stewart MacGregor

Director of Photography

With over a decade's experience behind the camera, Stewart MacGregor has spent his career so far shooting narrative films, commercials, documentaries and promos across a wide range of film and digital formats. His work has been warmly received at numerous film festivals and garnered recognition and awards from The Royal Television Society, Kodak, BFI and The British Society of Cinematographers.

  Stewart is a graduate of the National Film and Television School, where he honed his craft under the tuition of renowned cinematographers Brian Tufano BSC (Trainspotting, Billy Elliot), Stuart Harris, Billy Williams BSC (On Golden Pond, Gandhi) and Sean Bobbitt BSC (Shame, 12 Years A Slave).  

Grant Bridgeman

Sound Recordist

A BAFTA Nominated freelance Production Sound Mixer on Feature Films (The Falling, The Facility (Guinea Pigs), Harolds Going Stiff), TV Drama (Bert and Dickie, Accused II, Mr Selfridge, Common, Cilla, The C Word, My Maf Fat Diary), Commercials (Tomboy / Shane Meadows), sound recordist on documentaries (for the BBC and Tigerliley) and corporates.

Amy Nicholson

Production Designer  

Amy trained in Theatre Design at Nottingham Trent University, followed by an MA at Wimbledon College of Art.  Professionally she has designed and produced sets, puppets, costumes and make-up for a range of films, music video’s and theatre productions.  Her work has been recognised with various awards and nominations including Best Production Design at the International web fest 2015 for her role in The First Musketeer Web series and Best Visual at the 2014 Limelight Awards for the music video ‘Hands Up if you are Lost'.    

Amy is also Creative Director of the company HandMade Theatre which creates interactive performances for young people, including those with special educational needs. She works collaboratively with art, drama and music practitioners to create exciting environments which transform spaces and take participants on exciting journeys.


This is an amazing opportunity for us to tell a great story and to get ourselves noticed. Having two such well respected organisations supporting us gives us a chance to get our work seen on a far greater international scale so this is a very important step in our careers.
