THE WIMBLEDON CIVIC THEATRE TRUST LIMITED

RCN 1011660, London

WCTT is a charity that designs and delivers arts-based community programmes in the London borough of Merton. We aim to develop confidence and skills for life across the community, engaging people from all age groups and social backgrounds with the issues that affect them. Our projects include the Young Actors Company, a youth theatre based at New Wimbledon Theatre that welcomes young people aged 10-19 to engage with high quality acting training and community based projects.

THE WIMBLEDON CIVIC THEATRE TRUST LIMITED

People of all ages and from all backgrounds in Merton deserve to learn, to achieve and to have fun. A local arts charity, WCTT has provided opportunities for positive change across the community, from connecting teenagers with elders living with dementia, to providing peer-led drug education programmes in schools; from creating feature films to commemorate the anniversaries of local shared, green spaces, to performing an original play at The Royal Albert Hall. A valuable resource for schools, arts organisations and community groups across the borough, we provide opportunities for people to build confidence and resilience in a challenging world. Our youth theatre, the Young Actors Company at New Wimbledon Theatre, runs every Sunday in term time with minimal fees charged to members to cover costs, and an Open Door policy to ensure that money is never an object to young people joining us. We also apply for funding from major charitable organisations, including Arts Council England and the Taylor Family Foundation, to help us run projects that make a real difference in our community. With the help of our supporters, we can become even more sustainable, making longer term plans to make a difference in Merton, including reaching more schools, community groups and local organisations. With your support, we can encourage more young people with learning differences, disabilities and challenging financial situations to join us at our youth theatre, and to expand our current mentor programme, which provides young adults with an opportunity to gain valuable experience working in a youth theatre with younger people. Contributing to our fundraising also means you can support the shows we perform, providing free tickets to local primary schools, or refreshments for the elders who come to enjoy our dementia friendly performances. Every pound raised is used to enrich the experience of the arts for local residents, in every age group, and to make a real difference to their lives in the most challenging times.
