Victor Benjamin Neuburg (1883-1940) was a poet, publisher and occultist associated with some of the key names of early-20th-century British literary, artistic and occult/Bohemian circles. He is most famous for being Aleister Crowley's magical partner and, later, for being the publisher who discovered Dylan Thomas. His own work, however, has often been neglected, including his press - the Vine Press, operated from his home in Steyning, Sussex, from 1920-1930.
The Vine Press 2025 is an effort by Neuburg's granddaughter, Caroline Neuburg, and Victor Neuburg enthusiast, writer Justin P. Hopper (editor of Obsolete Spells - the first-ever collection of Vine Press publications) with the help of playwright and enthusiast Jordana Belaiche, to restart the Press in order to publish Caroline's long-awaited biography of her grandfather as well as never-before-seen poetry by Victor.
There are many steps to be taken, and we are in need of a small amount of funding to undertake the processes that must be completed before we can start - legal, literary and promotional issues to be solved.
To be abundantly clear: this is a fundraising effort for friends, family and colleagues to help Caroline, Justin and Jordana with immediate cash to continue our work making a forthcoming Vine Press relaunch possible. This is pure kindness-of-your-heart donation to our work and the only reward we can offer is an inside track on what we're doing, when, why and how!
