0The Two Bays Trust – delivering coastal conservation and mental health and wellbeing support on the stunning North Cornwall coast.
We are passionate about the health and wellbeing of the community and visitors, collaboration for the greater good, and coastal conservation, in particular the conservation of this unique and beautiful stretch of the North Cornwall Coast .
We have a 3-word mission statement...
Community ~ Collaboration ~ Conservation
Please do contact us if you would like to collaborate in any way.
Conservation
Our constitution states that we will, 'promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment'. We will achieve this by providing conservation and biodiversity activities throughout the year, including guided cliff and shore walks, beach cleans, ocean plastic recycling, rock pool safaris, foraging walks, watersports, wildlife surveys and other citizen science projects. Education forms a large part of our outreach, and we offer all these activities to schools and colleges around the county during term time.
Our visitors will be able to learn conservation and biodiversity skills from our volunteers and from the excellent National Trust rangers, which they can then apply at their homes and schools.
Wellbeing
Mental Health and Wellbeing services in Cornwall are at capacity and are difficult to access. Using the "Blue Health" ethos, and the recent research on Green Social Prescribing, The Two Bays Trust is committed to delivering mental health and wellbeing support alongside our conservation activities. The two benefits go hand in hand, with feelings of isolation, anxiety, stress, and mental ill health being relieved by spending more time in nature, particularly by the sea, being more active, and working in groups to improve natural habitats and protect marine and coastal wildlife.
The Two Bays Marine Centre @Trevathan Farm
We are thrilled to announce that we are constructing a Marine Centre Hub at Trevathan Farm Shop and Restaurant in St Endellion, North Cornwall. The Symons family have generously invited us on to their land, and we are delighted to be collaborating with them on this project.
The Marine Centre will be our hub for all information, events and activities. It will be the meeting point from where we can access the coast path and sea, and where we will hold workshops, classes, sports activities, gardening activities and art projects. It will also be where visitors can just come in for a sit down, a chat and a cuppa.
We will soon be taking delivery of a temporary building, and are currently seeking funding for the full conversion of this into a practical, beautiful and fully-functioning, brand new community resource.
Collaboration
Our three-word mission statement is
COMMUNITY ~ COLLABORATION ~ CONSERVATION
(We're very keen on this because all the words begin with 'sea'! Apologies.)
The Two Bays Trust is fundamentally a community project. Engagement with the local and wider community will be essential for the running of the organisation, and to benefit the most people.
As far as collaboration is concerned, we are spoilt. We have new organisations joining almost every week at the moment, which is fantastic. Currently, our collaborators include:
Trevathan Farm, North Cornwall National Trust, The Seal Research Trust, Cornwall Wildlife Trust, The Re-Action Collective, North Coast Wetsuits, Western Supply, Cleaner Seas Project, Sea-Changers, Cornwall Community Foundation, The Lister Charitable Trust, Pentreath, Cornwall Mind.
We also have valuable support from Cornwall Council, Lord Teverson (Local Nature Partnership), Cleaner Seas Project, North Cornwall National Trust and the Seal Research Trust.
The more communities we reach, and the more collaboration we achieve, the greater our conservation impact will be.
