Swavesey Spartans Football club has grown over the years from only a handful of teams to both boys and girls teams of all ages. Ranging from Under 6‘s teams right up to under 18’s. The teams are made up of children from not just Swavesey but it’s surrounding villages. The club has given the opportunity for hundreds of children to play the sport they love, Football !
It could not be run without the fantastic help and dedication from its volunteers of coaches , committee members and the parents of the children involved. All giving up their time season after season to help run this great club.
Swavesey Spartans football club like most things in the pandemic have been affected financially! As a club it has always tried to provide each team with the basic equipment needed, from having enough footballs for training ,right up to the correct goals needed for games. Including everything in between !
Fundraising for the club in its normal form has not been able to happen during the pandemic which will impact the club without some kind of additional help.
Its been an idea for a while now to think of a way to raise additional funds for the club whilst having a meaningful connection to our team and the club.
The Swavesey Spartan run and bike challenge was born !!!
Part 1:The running challenge.
I, with the help of some of my fellow coaches plan to run for 3 days to all the teams in our league ‘Under14 Stanley‘ at the end of March/ early April this year. This will consist of approximately 55 miles of running from Swavesey to Cherry Hinton , Swavesey to Milton and Swavesey to Soham and all the teams in between on route.
Part 2: The cycling challenge.
This is will take place on the weekends in May and June this year.
This will be cycling from Swavesey to all the teams in the Cambs mini league, Colts league and girls league. These are the main leagues the Spartans are involved with which range in distance from as close by as Over to as far as Elsenham which is near Stansted !
I hope that reading this you firstly think that this challenge is worthy of your donation and secondly and most importantly you would like to support this great club and what it brings to our children, being part of a team and being a Spartan!
Thank you for giving your time to read this.
