Although The Shed is a community garden, it is more than planting seeds and vegetables.
It is a facility where people can visit anytime for as long as they wish. If they want to join in with the work, they are more than welcome. We always have jobs to do, gardens are never finished.
But, we want to encourage people to visit and enjoy are "rooms". Little places where they can sit and watch the world go by. To reflect, take stock and recharge their batteries.
The Shed is a safe place. Somewhere outside the home where no demands are made but friends ready to help and listen.
The Shed arranges social events throughout the year and food is the usual enticement.
We provide much needed food to our supported families and our Veg. Stall helps prevent food waste. Local supermarkets donate surplus bread and other items which are readily accepted by those in need.
We have a Memory Copse where trees are adopted for loved ones no longer here. Their friends and family come and sit a while, reflecting and marking family events.
Plans are in hand to make the site more disabled friendly, with paths widened and raised beds constructed. We have two greenhouses to put up and a Petanque Court to build.
But all in good time. No deadlines, no pressure, no stress. All jobs will get done eventually.
