Please donate to help us keep the doors open.

The Rooms is a community space for those struggling with the effects of poor mental health, poverty and addiction. We currently support 150+ people a week.

Since 2012, The Rooms has had its doors open to welcome people who feel they have no where else to go.

"I was feeling suicidal, and ended up at a meeting at The Rooms. If it wasn't for the care and kindness I received, I wouldn't be here today." - Member of The Rooms

Whether popping in for a cup of tea or attending a 12 Step Meeting, The Rooms provides a safer space for people to ask for help and find a way forward.

Our current work focuses on supporting people to achieve sobriety and rebuild their lives.

It is entirely volunteer run, working on a peer support model that facilitates strong relationships between our community members.

“As a new person to Glasgow, The Rooms gave me a safe space to meet people and ensure my sobriety journey was not disrupted by the move. My life has become a lot steadier and better because of the support that was freely available to me.” - Member of The Rooms

Our core costs are running an accessible meeting space located in an area of multiple deprivation. This includes rent, utilities, repairs, maintenance, cleaning and refreshments.

Unfortunately, our current funding has ended and the nominal fees we make from groups using the space does not cover our running costs.

Until we are able to secure longer term funding, we are asking for donations to keep the doors open.

We have also appointed a new committee to explore further opportunities to maximise the potential of the space and support even more people in Glasgow.

“I was in a deep depression and was ready to pick up a drink again. The Rooms truly saved my life! They picked me up and led me back to a path I thought wasn’t for me anymore.” - Member of The Rooms

According to the Office of National Statistics, alcohol related deaths are rising and Glasgow has the highest rate in Scotland.

Professor David Strain, chairman of the BMA’s board of science committee calls it a "national crisis" and says that "behind these numbers are countless more people suffering".

Now more than ever, spaces like ours provide a lifeline. Please help us to keep going.
