On the 4th August 2020 we'd raised £1,715 with 33 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
The Prettygate opened its doors in the 1950's, built as part of an estate on original farm land. Since this time the pub has served the local community.
We took over the pub more than 6 years ago on a shoestring budget using life savings, personal loans and a lot of hard work to turn it into the thriving community pub that it has become. Like so many businesses across the hospitality industry, we have had to completely change our business and shut our doors to the masses for the time being.
The Prettygate and our brilliant staff face an uncertain future and we need to save The Prettygate; so that there is a job for everyone, and a pub for the community at the end of all this!
We have been providing a takeaway and delivery service of Sunday Roasts and now Afternoon Teas since the lockdown has started. Our overheads are reduced due to a reduction in rent etc, but are still very high on a business that cannot trade. These over heads have now reached a point where realistically, we could be facing a long period of time with minimal trading. This isn't something that we could have prepared for and we need help to cover our existing costs, and also costs for reopening to survive this change.
The Prettygate has looked at providing undercover outside seating, but due to planning permission this will not be possible, so an alternative has to be found so we can carry on trading and maximising the outside seating area. As this looks like our only option with current guidelines.
We would like to think you've had some good times with us and that we have been there for you. We have never charged for tickets or an entry fee to hear all the brilliant Live Music acts, New Years parties, Pub Quiz's, and previous events we have organised.
So what we are asking is that if you've had a good time at The Gate, seen a good band, enjoyed the pub quiz, feasted on a Sunday Roast, watched a great sporting event or simply enjoyed a quiet pint on your own, now we really need you to be there for us so that we can reopen when all this has passed.
We understand that Coronavirus is having a huge effect on everyone’s lives and many peoples livelihoods. We ask that only those who consider themselves to be in a financially stable position donate.
Thank you for supporting this campaign and The Prettygate Pub, we really hope to see you all again very soon.
Cheers!
