The Poirier Foundation has delivered services for the community since 2015. Projects include regular lunches, accessible transport service for medical appointments, footcare sessions and Winter Support for vulnerable residents with snow clearing, befriending and shopping.
Throughout the pandemic The Poirier Foundation continued to provide a range of services as Covid-19 Support (meals delivery, shopping, telephone befriending, collection of prescriptions) to ensure that people were not feeling abandoned.
We very much believe that anyone vulnerable must be given an opportunity to beat isolation and loneliness.
Our plans are now in place to increase our Winter Support for the colder months (during the period 1st January to 31st March 2023). The Poirier Foundation will be true to its motto "Our Community, Our Care".
We are well aware that people are going to face extra cost to keep warm at home so by putting on additional sessions our members and others should benefit a lot, not only cutting on heating costs but also being in company.
Plans are to serve basic food ( soup, sandwiches, cakes) and hot drinks with an opportunity to take a flask of hot soup home if required. Activities will include Games, Craft, storytelling, reminiscence, Kurling/Boccia, musical entertainment, magic show or anything else to pass the time among friends.
