Please help us return the RAF Pembroke Dock Memorial Window to its home.
In 1945, just after VE Day, RAF Pembroke Dock and the local community united to fund and dedicate a memorial window in honour of the servicemen from the station who lost their lives during World War II.
This unique tribute, installed in the east window of the RAF Church (the former Royal Dockyard Chapel that now houses the Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre), was a deeply meaningful gesture that remembered the sacrifices of officers and men from many nations who served at RAF Pembroke Dock.
When the RAF station closed in the late 1950s, the window was moved to RAF Mount Batten and later to the RAF Museum in Hendon, where it has been on display since 1994. Now, after years of negotiation with the RAF Museum, we have their blessing to bring this important piece of history back to its rightful place—the former Dockyard Chapel, now the Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre.
We are thrilled to share that plans are underway for the Memorial Window’s return early next year, along with a rededication ceremony on 26th October 2025, marking the 80th anniversary of its first dedication. The Chaplain in Chief of the Royal Air Force, The Venerable Air Vice Marshal Giles Legood, has graciously accepted our invitation to lead this commemorative event.
To make this happen, we need your support. The costs of transporting, installing, and displaying the window are substantial, with an estimated total of £15,000. This includes a custom display case to ensure that the window is showcased respectfully and beautifully for future generations.
Every donation helps bring this remarkable tribute back to Pembroke Dock, honouring the bravery and sacrifices of those who served to preserve the freedoms that we enjoy today.
