We did it
On 23rd May 2024 we successfully raised £634 ( + est. £97.50 Gift Aid ) with 37 supporters in 48 days

My paddling partner and I will be taking part in the Age UK Lancashire Charity Canoe to raise much needed funds.

My paddling partner and I will be taking part in the Age UK Lancashire Charity Canoe. We will be paddling 25 miles, starting at the Hand & Dagger in Selwick and finishing at The Waterwitch Pub in Lancaster. This 25 mile course can take around 6-8 hours to complete.

The event takes place on Saturday 18th May 2024.

About Age UK Lancashire

They are the largest older person's charity in Lancashire, helping older people in Lancashire to live a healthier and happier life style.

They run several services across the region to support individuals, families and carers such as;

Hospital After Care, Support At Home, Dementia Services, Digital Inclusion, Footcare, Day Clubs, Veterans Outreach, Information & Advice, Integrated Care, Community Outreach and Scams Awareness.

The numbers speak for themselves

- Last year they took over 33,931 phone calls (That's 92 calls a day!).

- They provided dementia support to 320 people through 1-2-1 and group sessions

- Their Hospital After Care team supported 9,148 patients following a short stay in hospital.

- They were able to claim £2.44 million in benefits for people in Lancashire.

- They improved the mobility of 327 clients through our Foot care program

- They connected with 110 veterans, breaking down the walls of isolation and introducing them to new friends and events in their local area.

- They delivered over 36,000 hours to help older people to stay independent at home through our Support at Home service.

Money raised from the canoe challenge allows them to keep these services running. It means they can continue to answer the phone to someone who needs advice.

It means they can complete a benefit form which can make a significant difference to someone's life. (Attendance Allowance forms can take 2 hours!).

They can buy equipment for our day clubs to keep our members engaged and active through out the day.

They can help introduce digital tools to those who can't access it.

They can provide sessions on scams awareness to help prevent fraud and scams.
