Finalist in the Aviva UK Broker Community Fund 2024

This project has been nominated by Cotson Reddish (Insurance Brokers) Ltd in the Aviva UK Broker Community Fund in 2024.

The Immanuel Project is a Bradford based (mainly volunteer) not-for-profit charity that started over 12 years ago.

Their mission is to support the homeless and vulnerable within the Bradford & District Community who need more help than ever in these tough economic times and unfortunately, it is getting notably worse. Even though the City of Bradford has been awarded City of Culture 2025 this problem still exists.

The Charity opens five days a week providing breakfasts, hot lunches, essential hygienic and everyday items of clothing and food. They have a warm, safe and most importantly a listening ear at their community hub where they build trust with what they term as "their guests". Through this, they get to understand their other needs, social, physical, financial, mental health and well-being.

Not only does their dedicated team provide a tremendous amount of in-house support to those vulnerable in our society but they also sign-post guests to other partner organisations for more specialist support. Representatives from DWP & The Howarth Foundation regularly visit the HUB, to advise and support the guests with their financial wellbeing. They have the skills and experience to help their guests who have a plethora of issues common with the most vulnerable in society (drugs, alcohol, mental health, finances, employment and homelessness).

They are currently providing support to over 700 guests visit on a weekday basis. If they are fortunate to be successful with this funding it will enable them to continue developing and enhancing their current services to the most in need and who in many instances have no where and no one else to turn to. As well as provide warm food 5 days a week.

The cost of maintaining this service is huge and as an example, the cost of electricity alone for the period 1st to the 31st July was a staggering £701.32. The annual cost will no doubt exceed my submission amount but any help would be more than appreciated.
