Our Mission
We're looking to raise £40,000 (or more!) to support the continued development of our production facility, reintroduce our Navy Strength ABZ Dry Gin for the Tall Ships Races in July, and bring our long-awaited vermouth to the marketplace.
About The House of Botanicals
Established in 2009 and situated in Aberdeen in North East Scotland, The House of Botanicals is 100% independent and family-owned, operated by husband and wife team Adam & Steffie Elan-Elmegirab. We're the UK's oldest bartender owned spirit brand and an alternative to a traditional distillery, producing a world-class range of spirits covering The House of Botanicals Gins, Dr. Adam's Cocktail Bitters and the Italian influenced Pietro Nicola Aperitivi & Digestivo. Though it may not be obvious too many, these three categories come together in iconic drinks such as the Negroni, Dry Martini and our favourite Martinez, though of course all three categories are stand alone as well.
Currently based in the heart of the city in the historical railway arches on Palmerston Road, our 2,500 sq ft unit houses our production area, office, tasting room and shop, with the latter regularly playing host to a range of events including our Gin Tour & Tasting, Cocktail Experience, Art of the Aperitivo, and themed Discovery Sessions. Our offering is exported across the globe to countries including Italy, France, Taiwan, Netherlands and the United States of America.
Inspiration
All our products draw from our founder's Scottish, North African and Italian heritage, as showcased in our flagship Classic Old Tom Gin which features Italian juniper berries, Egyptian chamomile flowers, our signature Moroccan saffron threads and a hint of muscovado sugar. In 2022 the world’s largest spirit competition, the IWSC, awarded our Classic Old Tom a Gold Outstanding Medal and 98 points; to date the highest score in history for an Old Tom Gin.
As a business we have a planet positive and hyper fair-trade outlook, working exclusively with natural and seasonal botanicals and buying directly from farmers and growers wherever possible. In 2024 we moved less than one full black bag to landfill and - although we gave up the certification in December 2024 - are a former B Corp. At the time of our certification we were the fourth spirit brand in the UK and eighth worldwide.
Having bartended and consulted professionally for over a decade, our founder Adam is also a two times published author, whilst Steffie worked in hospitality for a similar length of time whilst her university studies in photography and media sees her look after much of the creative side of things (such as the design work on our Pietro Nicola labels).
Join our Reward Based Member's Club
Originally launched through our website in April 2023, The House of Botanicals Member’s Club is a reward-based crowdfund that provides a unique opportunity to become part of our future, and rewards those who show loyalty to all that we do.
