The Heathers Nursery was established in the 1970's and became a registered charity in 1993.
We operate from a mobile building that was installed in 1996 and is reaching the end of life and is costing increasingly more to maintain. We also rent a classroom from the infant school that we share a site with.
Children join us from a wide demographic area, some with high levels of deprivation. Our cohorts of children can have high levels of English as Additional Language and also high levels of special needs and disabilities.
We offer totally free early education to families in receipt of government funding and use our charitable status to support families in many different areas. As the funding levels received from government have not kept pace with ever increasing costs, we are reliant on fundraising to purchase new resources for the children and replace those that frequently get broken.
The impacts of the pandemic on children is still being felt and our families are all facing the cost of living squeeze so our fundraising from with our families will continue to be a challenge but we want to continue to support every family who joins us and believe passionately that every child should have the best early education experience possible to give them the best chance in achieving throughout their lives.
