Who are we? Jan & I are members of the Patient Participation Group for Much Hadham Health Centre. We are very involved with the volunteer networks looking out for our frail, isolated & vulnerable residents throughout lockdown and have helped to create the CareBank Covid-19 recovery online signposting website at the Carebank
What are we doing? We have a simple vision to create a local Community Hub for The Hadhams and surrounding villages, based out of our village halls which will strengthen these green shoots of recovery and build resilience for the future. Our dream is to see essential welfare & wellness services across East Herts come and regular outreach for our rural residents via this community hub and therefore join more dots between social prescribing and our NHS services in the heart of our communities.
Why are we doing this? We hope to inspire other rural communities to do the same, so we can all join the dots along the Ash Valley villages to create a blanket of loving compassion, practical advice and one on one support for our rural village residents. There will be a focus on Wellness and Social connection, along with accessing local essential services, especially for our more frail, lonely and vulnerable residents. Lack of digital confidence has come through loud and clear as a key concern via our recent residents' survey. So helping our residents to connect in better digitally with friends, family and their essential NHS and other Servcies is our number one priority. you can see our survey results at this link residents survey results
We will use any money raised through this crowdfunding project to make this joined up vision happen during 2021, regardless of Covid-19 and social distancing measures as these Community Hubs will be available both as virtual and physical spaces so our residents can access it no matter what.
How are we doing this? The Hadhams' Community Hub will offer regular food & social connection, cinema entertainment & and other activities, digital technology advice & one to one assistance. The overall theme will be Wellness & Social connection through listening, discussion & signposting.
The Hadhams' Community Hub will connect in with our NHS and East Herts services such as Healthy Hubs, Active East Herts, Citizens Advice & Community Volunteering Services along with other local parish volunteering. services , so a far reaching virtual blanket of local volunteer led action can be put in place from the beginning of 2021 to facilitate a solid & resilient social recovery from the pandemic.
We are very excited that we may be able to receive up to £2000 match funding on the pledges we receive from anyone who believes in and would like to financially or emotionally support this vision. We hope to raise up to £5,000 to ensure the Hadhams' Community Hub can be sustainable throughout 2021 and beyond.
The Community Hub is part a larger 2-3 year vision to refurbish and repurpose Little Hadham Village Hall as a key community venue and Hub for all residents across our local villages to benefit from. We hope to raise £500k to achieve this dream over the coming year and beyond. Our Health centre has had a satellite surgery from here before Covid-19 and recently 1300 of our residents had their winter flu vaccinations from this totally covid secure building . So putting our NHS & related Servcies at the heart of this refurbishment is central to this vision.
