Back in 2017 NELC voted to close our rink when the operators at that time stated they could no longer afford to keep it open.
We fought against that decision and 9 months later we became a registered charity and were handed the keys (and signed lease) in a Community Asset Transfer.
The facility was in a sorry state and as a newly formed charity with no funds and staff to pay we have carried out small improvements here and there. We've worked hard to build up some reserves and now feel we can tackle the biggest project we'll ever have to.
Replacing the barriers will safeguard the future of the rink. Ensuring kids can play hockey, figure skaters can train and recreational skaters can enjoy our ice. The system we are looking at will outlive some of us and will bring us into the modern era. But it is expensive! We need some help to fund it.
We can pay outright 25% and are looking at securing finance to cover 50%.
The further 25% we are working hard to raise through events held at the rink and your generous donations
