Aim: Amplify THE FORUM – A charged solo performance that dives into power, betrayal, and ideology. Your support sparks crucial conversations.
Debuting at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, THE FORUM is a brand-new solo performance that explores what happens when a man’s darkest secrets collide with his desperate need for salvation. This isn’t just theatre—it’s an immersive journey into a fractured psyche, teetering between redemption and radicalisation.
Venue: C Aquila (studio) Roman Eagle Lodge, July 30-Aug 24 @ 17:30
ABOUT ME
I was fortunate to begin my career in theatre, performing on Broadway—an experience that sparked my passion. I later transitioned into film, where I wrote, directed, and produced several shorts and two features—projects I’m grateful to have made. Over the years, I’ve navigated an industry full of roadblocks, but no matter the setbacks, I’ve kept pushing to stay creative.
Now, I’m returning to my theatre roots—to reconnect with what first inspired me: collaborating with other artists and engaging directly with live, responsive audiences, rather than spending more years isolated behind a laptop.
One of my first projects back is something I started fifteen years ago as a movie. I was self-funding it, but just weeks before shooting, an unexpected financial hit shut the whole thing down. Anyone who’s worked in film knows how common that is—but for me, it was a turning point.
The stories we tell ourselves about failure don’t always hold up. What matters more is what we do after. What was meant to be my first feature has now become my first play—shaped by the lessons, losses, and deeper perspective that only time could give it.
ABOUT THE SHOW
In today’s world, we’re bombarded by distractions—notifications, endless scrolling, curated feeds—all designed to keep us pacified and entertained. These tools are so deeply embedded in our lives that we often fail to see how they’re shaping our thoughts, beliefs, and even our sense of self.
But this isn’t just a story about technology—it’s about the human experience. The constant noise can leave us disconnected, disoriented, and desperate for something real. In that vacuum, movements and ideologies can take root, offering purpose, clarity, or a sense of belonging. They flourish in online spaces, where ideas travel fast, polarize faster, and often slip into dangerous territory.
It’s tempting to blame tech moguls, politicians, or media machines—but the truth is more complicated. We all play a role in sustaining the systems we now struggle to confront. Whether through passive consumption or active participation, we’re all part of the story.
The shaping of narratives—driven by corporate interests or political agendas—has left many feeling betrayed. Backlash movements rise from that sense of abandonment. But while it’s important to understand the forces behind them, we must also be wary: the impulse to reclaim what’s been lost can harden into extremism, threatening the very values we aim to protect.
THE FORUM follows Hitchens, a man forged by duty and discipline, who finds himself swept up in the swirl of disillusionment. As personal loss collides with a shifting social reality, he becomes a symbol—for some, of resistance. For others, of something far more dangerous. It’s a story about identity, ideology, and reckoning—with no easy answers. But it asks a question we all recognize: How far would you go to make sense of a broken world? THE FORUM explores this—perhaps uncomfortably, but with honesty and openness.
WHY I’M ASKING FOR SUPPORT
On the flip side, nothing excites me more than the chance to entertain—fully and immersively—for a full hour. I’ve poured years of thought, personal experience, and creative risk into this piece because I believe it speaks to something urgent, human, and deeply relevant.
To bring that vision to life, I’m asking for support. Every contribution lays the groundwork for a show that challenges, provokes, and (I hope) lingers long after the lights go down.
HOW YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BE USED
This production is self-funded. Every pound you pledge makes a real and immediate difference.Your support helps cover essential costs: lighting design, promotional materials (digital and print), flyering, a stage tech operator, props, wardrobe, PR outreach, and securing a photographer and videographer to capture the performance.
I’ve already covered major expenses—accommodation and theatre rental among them—so your donation goes directly toward making the show stage-ready.
This crowdfunding effort does more than cover costs. It builds momentum, boosts visibility, and helps THE FORUM land, resonate, and endure.
GRATITUDE
To everyone reading—or even just considering backing the show—thank you. I’ve created a range of rewards as small tokens of appreciation. But truly, even the smallest donation is a vote of confidence that means more than you might imagine.
Let’s build something urgent and unforgettable together. I'll see you at the show!
