Our partnership, with over 30 years experience in probation work, will help ex offenders develop social capital through sporting activities.

Who are we?

We are probation practitioners who have developed an experise in working with offenders diagnosed with personality disorder. Working in the community, with men and women on Life or IPP licences, we have developed a programme which is informed by psychology and occupational therapy and works in a relational way to help our cases identify areas of their lives that have been problematic and address these areas through sport and reflective feedback group activities.

Our team, as well as having experience in managing risk in the community through careers in probation, love sport and see how the benefits of sporting participation can have positive impacts on individuals and communities.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The Finish Line Sports Intervention CIC is a new venture, starting with with no capital. We need to raise funds to get off the ground, prior to negotiating contracts with partnerships organisations

How we’ll spend the money raised

We are community based so do not require office space but we do need to pay for things like; setting up a website; paying our accountant; buying public liability insurance; running promotions; providing transport; facility and equipment hire; staff wages; staff training; refreshments; etc.

Community impact

The Finish Line Sports Intervention will help individuals on prison licence to build social capital and confidence in the community. Recall rates are high for our target group so any intervention which helps reduce risk benefits the individuals involved; their family and friends and the wider community too. There is also a huge financial benefit to keeping exoffenders out of custody, as it costs around £48,409 per year to house one prisoner. The Finish Line Sports Intervention by comparison offers good value for money.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
