We're still collecting donations

On the 26th February 2024 we'd raised £40 with 2 supporters in 69 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

Hi, we are a group of 5 ambitious students all studying Film Production at the University of Portsmouth.

Together, we are hoping to make a short, dark comedy about an execution in our fictional medieval village called Wulfricby. The film, being a comedy, will stage the execution like a concert- with our executioner finishing up his nationwide tour of England with one final show. The crowd is buzzing with excitement, and we follow our executioner through his backstage preparations and onto the stage. With an axe in hand, and a prisoner that can't quite sit still- surely nothing can go wrong? Can it?

Were hope to steer away from the stereotypical student film (cheap looking, focused on love interests, etc) and pursue the path of this film. To come up with the concept and carry it out, we need a team...

Our production team consists of these 5 lovely crew members:

Georgia Olding: Director

George Mills: Producer

Charlie Balchin: DoP

Zac Jennings: Editor

Hatty Hunt: Sound

We have taken inspiration from a variety of films such as the previously mentioned 'Life of Brian' (1975), 'A Holy Grail' (1975), and The Princess Bride (1987). We have specifically been inspired by the stoning scene from 'Life of Brian', which we hope our film reflects.

Logline:

A medieval town eagerly await a high-profile execution, the townsfolk welcome the grim event as a spectacle akin to a rock concert

Synopsis:

It's 1328, a  world famous executioner has arrived in our town of Wulfricby. The townsfolk anxiously await his arrival to bring an end to his nation wide tour! Local village idiot Aldus has been a nuisance since he was young and the townsfolk have finally had enough and luckily the best in the business has come to town- or at least they think.

Our Target

We are hoping to raise around £2,500 to help realise this project. Why? --->

Why Support Us?

Helping to support and aid us in this project will enable us to create a piece of film which is realistic in its portrayal, with props and costumes, venues and cast to deliver a professional and engaging short- making our ideas materialise and get to the screen.

It will also enable us to be ethical in production, making sure cast and crew are fed, there are suitable hygiene facilities, travel arrangements, and that everyone is safe.

Actors will need rehearsals, along with potentially some fight choreography too!

We would really appreciate your help, and thanks will be given in the film credits to any contributors to the cause.

PS- If you are interested in our project head over to our instagram page @thefinalhour.film to keep updated as we progress, and release content such as a concept trailer, meet the team, and BTS of our film.
