Our hope for the Club House:
Friends of Castle Green CIC took over the former Bowling Club House and Green in January 2024 with the purpose of securing it as a community asset. Our plan is to reinvigorate the Club House building for use by the community as a space to hire for a multitude of purposes, from meetings, classes and clubs to outdoor events and festivals.
We want to be there for the long-term to provide the community with a safe and sustainable space to be enjoyed by all, but we are suffering significantly with anti social behaviour which is costing us both time and money to sort out. We don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun, but constant littering, graffiti, damage and destruction is wearing us down.
We have exciting plans for the future that have been shaped by you, the community we are part of, to make the Club House an inclusive and welcoming space where everyone can find something valuable to engage with. We have had lots of suggestions for the future use of the The Club House, including youth activities, community kitchen, private hire space, outdoor event space etc but we need your support to make this a reality.
Why we need your help:
It costs thousands of pounds to keep the Club House running every year.
The last few months have been really challenging. We’ve been hit by multiple incidents of vandalism, including graffiti, damage to the Club House roof, littering and the destruction of the outside space, all of which are costing money to fix. Money that we don’t have because the building isn’t yet in a fit state to be hired out regularly.
The future is bright, but our shared long-term vision can’t be brought to life without first securing our financial present.
We need to raise £25,000 to secure the future of the Club House and allow us to invest in some repairs. We’d also like to purchase some outdoor event kit so that we can restart our events on the Green. We have secured an anonymous donor who will match any funding we achieve up to £12,500!
This emergency money will:
- Allow us to make necessary repairs to the building and bowling green as a result of vandalism.
- Allow us to secure the site properly to avoid further incidences of vandalism.
- Keep the lights on and the heating running.
- Keep the bowling green maintained, with grass cut regularly and hedges trimmed.
- Maintain an affordable space for hire for the community.
- Invest in outdoor event equipment to provide events for the community.
- Prove that the Club House matters – to secure its long-term future as a space for the community.
- Promote the Club House as a community space for all.
Help us preserve Castle Green for future generations:
By supporting this campaign, you’re not just helping to save a building — you’re investing in the future of a space that will foster a sense of shared purpose and collective strength, helping individuals thrive in both personal and collective aspects of life. And will enable us to start hosting events again, such as:
- Historical Hereford Day
- Fun Dog Show
- Castle Green Summer Fayre
- Winter Wonderland
- Vintage Fair
- Outdoor Family Theatre
- Local Nursery Graduations
- Birthday Parties
- And so much more!
