Aim: Help bring our school border at Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival to life!
Help us make this happen!
We are exhibiting a border at the festival that is a playful take on an outdoor classroom, highlighting how beneficial gardening can be in school settings, particularly to mental health. The RHS have said yes to our project and now we just need a bit of help from you to get us there!
Who are we?
Hello, I’m Kate, the designer of the border. I’m a kitchen gardener and planty content creator who is passionate about getting people gardening, and the therapeutic properties of horticulture. I have teamed up with Chase Bridge Primary School in the London borough of Richmond where many aspects of the garden will be relocated after the festival. The children have been helping to grow the plants and are so excited to be part of the project!
Why do we need your help?
Whilst we are growing as much as we can ourselves and repurposing materials, there are inevitably things we need to pay for. As a small garden we unfortunately do not qualify for corporate sponsorship, so really would appreciate any contribution.
Can you give us an idea of what it will look like?
Sure thing! At its heart The ClassBloom is a school allotment garden, showcasing a mixture of fruit, vegetables and cut flowers. Playful nods to school include a planted desk and school bags, bunting made from gingham school dresses and many more! We will have a range of wildlife habitats from a pond to a huge insect hotel, homemade bird boxes and a worm composter, and the children will also be displaying results of their plant based experiments.
We really believe in this project, and how it is helping to instil confidence and purpose to the children of the gardening club, many of whom are neurodiverse or have additional needs. We have all worked so hard on this and can’t wait to share our efforts with the public!
Thankyou so much in advance for any donation!
