Aim: Raise Funds to support improvements for The Bowly Play park
Running for a Reason: Help Rebuild the Heathhall Playpark
Hi, I’m Hannah Whittle - Community Development Worker for Heathhall Community Centre and this September, I’m running the Dumfries Half Marathon to raise vital funds for a cause close to my heart: the Heathhall Community Centre Playpark Project.
Right now, the playpark beside our beloved community centre - known locally as The Bowly, is in desperate need of an upgrade. It’s a place that has brought joy to generations of local children, but the equipment is outdated, the space is tired, and it no longer provides a safe, accessible environment for families.
We want to change that.
Phase 1 of our improvement plan aims to install new, inclusive play equipment, improve safety features, and create a space that children of all ages and abilities can enjoy. It’s about more than just swings and slides, it’s about giving local families a safe, vibrant, and welcoming space to connect, play, and grow.
As someone who has previously been very overweight and unfit, Running 13.1 miles will be a challenge, but it’s nothing compared to the joy this new playpark will bring to our community.
I’m asking for your support. Every pound raised brings us one step closer to transforming The Bowly into a space we can all be proud of. Whether it’s £1 or £100, your donation will make a real difference.
Please donate, share, and help me run towards a better future for Heathhall’s children.
Thank you so much for your support!
