CONCEPT
This story was initially written to cheer up my then 8 year old daughter.
She was unhappy and I was living away at the time.
STORY
Princess Ellena is unhappy.
Stuck in the Palace, she is not allowed out unless accompanied by her parents.
Longing to walk the streets and play in the parks, she hatches a daring plan to escape.
Aided by a fairy godmother, she puts her plan into action.
PROJECT
I have wanted to self-publish the book for some time and took the opportunity recently to have the story professionally illustrated by Julia Fryer, a local artist.
The book will be a standard children's paperback.
32 pages with illustrations throughout.
Size (H x W) 279mm x 224mm
The money raised will allow me to publish the book. With the majority going on Publishing costs. The remainder is allocated for buying accessories such as bookmarks and stickers.
BIOGRAPHY
My career has seen me move from Industrial Chemist (Paints and Resins) to Reporting Analyst, a change in part due to discovering l liked computers, spreadsheets and databases.
Having to write concise reports and technical instructions within both careers helped develop my writing skills.
My head has always been full of stories, in the past l just never wrote them down.
Fantasy seems to be my forte, characters and situations coming easily to me.
I have written a dozen fantasy novels for young adults and older, all of which are available as e-books via the Real Kingdoms website.
Allycycon, Exiled Elf, my first book, has just received a new cover from Julia Fryer.
I also write fantasy novels for children under the Real Kingdoms Brand. Two have been published and are available via Waterstones, a third is about to go to the printers.
The Bored Princess will be my first self-published book outside the Real Kingdoms Brand.
The aim is to self-publish, allowing to promote my book around the local primary schools as well as sell direct to the public through online outlets such as Amazon and Tik-Tok.
