The Blossom Tree SEND Community Project

Aim: To empower children with SEND to socialise, build self esteem, practise mindfulness, learn new skills, feel a sense of fulfilment

Luna Aura started off as a dream a long long time ago and was initially inspired by my son after receiving a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD & PDA. He was out of school for 2 years without any support, for him and for myself and we were left isolated from everyday life. We tried clubs, activities, days out but no one could manage his needs other that me & his Dad so we ended up just stuck at home. 

Through his diagnosis it became quite obvious that I was also on the spectrum and his little sister also received her diagnosis age 4, so it appeared we had a little team of Nuerodiverse folks within the household. 

The support for children and families with additional needs (especially in this area) is absolutely shocking! There is a huge lack of services available and activities that are suitable for all as every single nuerodiverse person on this planet is not the same, their needs are not the same, and neither are their triggers.. I’ll spare you the details but we didn’t leave the house much, put it that way! 

This led me to understanding & practicing self care, teaching the children how to understand and regulate their own feelings and emotions and I also found spirituality somewhere down the line. 

I always dreamed of having a big open space where children and parents could come and switch off from the chaos, breathe, feel free and not feel judged that incorporated lots of lovely things to calm the soul and reset. 

A sanctuary where sensory overload wasn’t an issue, a quiet, calming environment that when you arrived you could just be 100% your authentic self. Because that right there is liberating and freeing.

I have been on one hell of a journey with my children ensuring they get the right support not just for their education, but primarily for their social and emotional mental health and I just knew I needed to help others. 

This world is backwards, upside and just wrong. Our little tiny humans don’t stand a chance if they don’t understand who they are and how to protect their energy and their beautiful minds.
